NASA Explorer School Update

• CMS has plans in the works to install Direct TV in all science classrooms and the library so we can watch NASA programs and events this spring.
• Our Tandberg DLN system arrived and we are excited to participating in NASA video conferencing to meet scientists, astronauts, and other NES schools.

You are invited to our next NES events :

SPACE WEEK: April 2-6 th Students will build rockets in their science classes, while studying space exploration topics in their other subject areas. You are welcome to visit throughout the week.

ROCKET LAUNCH: Monday and Tuesday April 23rd and 24 th . The great rocket launch in the CHS practice field will occur during you child's science classes! Check with your child to determine the day and time of their scheduled launch.

SPACE NIGHT on Tuesday, April 24 th from 4:00-6:00pm . Join the fun! There will be hands-on space stations in the CHS practice field (gym if rainy). Activities include: stomp rockets, a telescope, Mentos-Coke explosions, Lego Robots, and possibly moon rocks. Snacks and refreshments provided.

FIRST Lego League :

The Cherokee Brave Nanos competed in the first annual Mountain Region Lego League competition on January 20 th at SCC. Students built a computerized Lego robot and game board with a nanotechnology theme. Our Brave Nanos won 1 st in teamwork, 1 st in robot performance, and 1 st presentation/skit! Team members include: Steven Lambert, Brittnee Arch, Tyler Arnold, Lance Cook, Kiah West, Jeremy Wolfe, and Jodi Wolfe. We appreciate our dedicated coaches Mr. Freeman (CMS), Susan Lanier and Kathy Johnson (Gear Up). Congrats to all participants!
