Welcome to Our Classroom

We are working very hard to prepare for the CTB Terra Nova Test for Second Grade.  It will be May 1-5. It is very important that all students are present and on time that day. The test will begin soon after the morning announcements.

I am confident that every student will do his or her very best on this test. You can help ensure success by making sure your child goes to bed early every night, eats a good breakfast every morning, and gets to school in plenty of time (to eliminate any nervous jitters about being late).

Please continue to encourage your child. We am very proud of every child in this class. They have all worked extremely hard every day to prepare for this test. We will reward them with extra recess in the afternoons if everyone is present and tries his/her best.  Friday we will have a reward for their effort.

We are working with money (dollars and cents) in math.  The children earn play money by bringing homework, good behavior, passing spelling tests, and completing class work.  On April 7, the children may purchase items from the Classroom Store using their own money they have earned.  You can continue the lessons at home by allowing your child to present money at stores and by helping them count it.

On April 12, the Easter Basket Project is due.  This is a family project in which all members are encouraged to participate.  The end project will be used by your child to hunt Easter eggs on April 13th.  Please make sure your child has a basket.  At the end of the egg hunt, we will have a party.  Please send in treats for this.

Spotlight

After our visit to Pack Place to see the Rain Forest, each child wrote and illustrated a story about what they saw and learned that day.  The books are on the bulletin board on lower hall.  Stop in and see them!  The kids worked hard and did a great job!!

On April 13th at 10:00 am, the children will be presenting their Easter Program.  They have practiced hard and are excited!!  All relatives are invited to come.  The children love to look in the audience and see a familiar face.

On April 14th, the entire school will be traveling to the new school site on Ravensford for a ground breaking ceremony.  There will be lots of activities for the children to participate in.  We will also be eating bag lunches there.  You are invited to come and join us!!  We are very excited about the new school and can't wait to have state of the art facilities to educate the children in!!!

We are Keepers of the Little People

The Sacred Path program is a character education program developed to promote caring, responsibility, and respect for self and others while following traditional tribal beliefs. Each grade level meets to discuss issues that need to be addressed within the grade block and the school. Together they determine solutions to any problems that are addressed and work together to solve those problems. Students and teachers work together on the Sacred Path to make the school a safe place to learn.
