Our Classroom

You are welcome to visit us.  Just stop at the front office and sign in.  We are located in the 6th grade Annex building, room 102.A.

Pictured here is our reading corner, which is set up like a living room, including couches, chairs, rugs, and bookshelves.  The students often choose to read here rather than at a desk.

Spirit of the Turtle

Walking the Sacred Path means you are responsible, respectful, truthful, and caring.  We constantly praise students in our classroom who are walking the Sacred Path.

Teacher Bios

Shi-yo!  My name is Abigail Chambers.  I am originally from Upper Michigan, and I have been a teacher at Cherokee Elementary for five years.  I am a (proud) graduate of Western Carolina University (B.S. in Education - Special Education).  I am also involved in the DARE school store, Dinisdelisgi, and Cultural Curriculum Committee.  This keeps me quite busy..

Ms. Jackson is the teacher's assistant.  She is an enrolled member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, and has been working at Cherokee Elementary for 6 years.  She received an Associate's degree in Early Childhood Development from Southwestern Community College.  She is currently attending Western Carolina University.
